If Hector Daniel Velazquez has his wish, his El Sombrero will soon become the go-to Mexican restaurant in Central Florida. For more than two decades, the Velazquez family has owned restaurants, primarily in Oregon and Washington State. To many local fans of Mexican cuisine, he is a familiar figure. Velazquez has been in charge of other Mexican eateries along the Space Coast for ten years. The Velazquez family came here on holiday 11 years ago, fell in love with the area and decided to settle.    

With El Sombrero, located on the site of the dearly departed Chameleon Fusion Bistro in Melbourne, Velazquez has raised the bar in terms of ambiance and menu. The large restaurant is upscale in design, but the menu prices remain affordable, music, plus specials on draft beer and margaritas.
